These days we live in a society of
"convenience". If you run out of something it is pretty "convenient"
just to run to the corner "convenience" store or supermarket to pick up
what you need. This is the routine in many families today. For a lot of
us, meal planning means that you think about what sounds good at about
3:00 in the afternoon so that you can run to the grocery store to pick
up all the ingredients. You may even eat out more often than you realize
too.
A "pantry" is a space or a closet (or even under your bed) that is
dedicated to the sole purpose of storing extra food. The point of a
"pantry" is to store extra food until you actually need it. It's like
having a convenience store right in your home. Now that's convenient!
Now, besides being convenient, having a stocked pantry not only saves
you time and money on emergency or last minute trips to the grocery
store, it can save you TONS of money when you buy these storable items
when they are at their
lowest price. Definitely a win-win! Keeping a pantry also means
being well prepared in the event of an emergency.
You CAN afford to stock a pantry. You can spend the same amount of money
you spend right now and actually buy MORE groceries! You can even afford
to donate weekly to your local food bank! With this website, I hope to
help people pack their cupboards and pantries to their limits while
saving hundreds of dollars and lots of time every month.
The Concept: To buy
consumer products that are used on a regular basis when they are on sale
at their lowest price so that they are already in your house when
actually NEED them.
Your local grocery store has daily sales, weekly sales and monthly
sales. These sales are advertised in those newspaper inserts you get in
your mailbox and your local newspaper. I would guess that most of you
probably just throw this straight into the recycle bin after maybe
glancing through it for 30 seconds.
And what about those manufacturer coupons that are inserted in your
Sunday paper? They probably don't seem worth your time, huh? They can be
hard to keep track of too. Would you believe that I currently have over
900 valid coupons collected from the Sunday paper alone?
Well, what if someone told you exactly which coupon to clip (date the
coupon came out and page number) every week so that you can just clip
them at exactly the same time that your local grocery store has the item
at a fantastic sale price? With this kind of information in your hand
you could easily manage your valuable manufacturer coupons in a
convenient storage box and then you could fly through the grocery store
without a calculator, easily grabbing things on your list. No need to
try to figure out what the best deal might be. It's already been figured
out. You don't have to waste time digging through your coupon file. When
you get up to the check-out you just pull the coupons you brought with
you to the store this trip and hand them to the cashier. The really fun
part is when the checker tells you how much you saved.
This is what the Puget Sound Grocery Guide is all about. If you
subscribe to my grocery guide, each week you will be able to access the
latest copy of the Guide showing you which coupons to pull, when to use
them, and which items are at their lowest prices. When you access the
Guide, all you have to do is cross off the items that you will not use,
pull the specified coupons from your file and go shopping. I will note
that there will be a few items that you will need to buy that are not on
the list. However, once you have used the guide for a few months, your
needs list will shrink considerably because you will find that you have
already stocked up on these items. **Please note that the Puget Sound
Grocery Guide is region specific to the Washington State Puget Sound
region.
